Growth Spurt?

Kate suddenly seems to be packing on weight, which given her slow to gain problem, we're thrilled about. She is now weighing in at a hefty 14 lbs 4 oz. She's finally in the 10th percentile again, which makes us sigh with relief.

I believe she is in a growth spurt, not only because she recently started adding weight again, but also because she has been nursing all night, and I mean every two hours! When will this child sleep six hours again? I'm glad she's getting her fill, but I'm a zombie as a result.

Recall on Graco/Simplicity Crib Revitalized After Toddler’s Death

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Simplicity, Inc. are renewing their search for the Aspen 3 in 1 cribs with a Graco logo after an Oregon child became entrapped between the mattress and the footboard due to the defect a mere14 days after the initial recall was announced. Two New Vaccines to be Added to the Recommended List by CDC

The CDC will be adding two new vaccines to its recommended, according to NPR. The two new vaccines, for rotavirus and the flu, are going to be added to the already questionably long list of vaccines children will be given in this country. As the mother of an infant, I can't help but question the necessity of so many vaccines. Yet, even I can be persuaded to vaccinate my child to protect them from harm.

Kentucky Bill to Protect Breastfeeding in Public

If Sen. Tom Buford, R-Nicholasville, of Kentucky, has his way, Kentucky will join the ranks of the socially advanced states in our great nation who will protect a mother's right to breastfeed her children in public! I say lead the way, Kentucky! I wholeheartedly support a woman's right to breastfeed, and consider myself lucky to reside in a state that already protects that right, New York.
