Best Baby at a Closing

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Yesterday we closed on our new house (yippee!) and Kate joined us for the process. She had been considering law school, but now thinks better of the idea. They bored her silly, so boring, actually, that she fell asleep and snoozed through the entire process.

Kate also got to meet her first celebrity, Megan McTavish, the headwriter of All My Children, and [former] owner of the house we bought. Turns out we were featured in a story line on the show, a Joel and Jenn who were attorneys and lived out in the country with their dogs.

Crash and Burn

Friday, April 14th, 2006

I suppose I will have to get used to this, but little Kate, being a daredevil and all, takes too many risks, and as a result, has too many crashes. Wednesday was an all time high day for daredevil activities, and she fell four times and hit her head. Did it stop her? Not at all. Each time I picked her up, kissed it better, and distracted her. As soon as she forgot about her headache, she was back at furniture cruising and pulling up on things. (more...)

Bye Bye - Both a Word and a Gesture!

Monday, April 10th, 2006

This morning Kate awoke a new kid. She waved bye bye to Joel and said bye bye within fifteen minutes. Both of these are firsts! She was so proud of herself, and the bye bye wave had both a waving arm and opening and closing fingers.

Not So Crazy About Craisins …

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

Well, it was bound to happen, right? Eventually babies choke, scare their mothers silly, and need to get rescued. Kate's long day happened to come after her first experience of being left in day care (actually the child care room at the gym), and she was none too keen on the experience. After five minutes of playing, she decided to test out her lungs and tear ducts (they worked), and Mom's workout was cut very short.

For lunch, to make her feel a little bit better about being left in the "auction off this baby" room, she was offered a quarter of a "Craisin" (dried cranberry), which, given her toothless condition, she promptly choked on. There was back pounding, a little projectile vomiting, and we're all doing OK now.

Dad came home early.
