Rolling Over!

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Today I left Isabel on her tummy on the play mat in Kate's room while I took Kate to the potty. When I returned, she was on her back! At first I thought it was my imagination, so I flipped her back on her tummy. Within a minute, her little leg started kicking and whoop! Over she went again. She found this funny and started laughing. Kate and I applauded her newfound freedom. I knew this was coming soon, because in the last week, she has been flipping to her side in her crib.

Other news, she is now enjoying her exersaucer. Amazingly, she can activate the buttons and can grab most of the toys. She really is a physical and alert child.

Yesterday Kate had her flu shot. She was very brave, and took her baby doll, now aka Sophie, with her for support. Sophie got a shot, too, and the entire way there, Kate kept talking about how she was going to hold her hand so she wouldn't be scared. When it was over, both Kate and Sophie walked out with bandaids, and both got a sticker for being so brave.

Isabel - Her Father’s Daughter

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Isabel is certainly a little Joel. She does things at the tender age of three months that already remind me of her father. This week she started being more interested in socializing than eating. She will have a few sips, gulp down her milk, and then as soon as she feels slightly off the hunger edge, she looks up and tries to get my attention. As soon as we lock eyes, she pops off the nipple to give me a smile. As long as I keep looking at her, she keeps smiling! Then she won't go back to eating! It's like she's snacking all day rather than having meals like she used to do. She is also becoming a champion sleeper. She actually is sleeping in her cosleeper right now, a feat that Kate didn't accomplish until she was much older than Isabel. Of course, Joel could sleep standing up, and I need quiet and about 25 minutes to tall asleep. Joel crashes when his head hits the pillow. Obviously she inherited Joel's sleep tendencies. As for Kate, my mom tells stories of rocking me to sleep for hours. Boy will I have those same stories for Kate! In fact, the three month old is so much easier at bed time it is phenomenal. It is definitely something hard wired in their brains, because they were different from the start.
