Isabel’s Zoo Highlight
Saturday, April 11th, 2009"Gorilla nursing"
Isabel:
"I like Tiger Boy" (boy with painted face)
"I watch Monsters Aliens" (playing with "Missing Link" toy from McD's)
"I ride bug" (on bug-themed carousel)
"My Mommy" (to all children near her mother)
"I want to walk" ... "I sit with Mommy" (hopping down from bench next to Dad, walking around table and hopping up next to Mom at the pizzeria L&B Spumoni Gardens)
Kate's big event - she read (recognized) her first word, "Pizzeria," which she read off a sign on a store from the back of the car. She recognized the P and the Z's from having been to Uno earlier in the week.
Isabel's continuing language explosion:
"I playing hide-and-seek" (hiding behind armchair)
"I reading book" (picks up Fish Eyes and carries over) "I reading Fish Eyes"
"My Apatosaur" (carries over to read with dinosaur book)
"Baby time out" (punishing doll after receiving similar treatment post food-throwing)
"Sorry" (capitulating after third time out)
Isabel has really taken a leap with her vocabulary and sentences in the last few weeks. She says 5 and 6 word sentences, and can sing the entire chorus of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Pay Me My Money Down. She is starting to recognize letters and colors, and while she isn't right most of the time, she knows her color names and letters. For example, if you hold up a pink plate, she may tell you it is blue, but she is at least giving back a color name, not some other category. She brings me letters off the refrigerator and tries to name them. It's interesting, she has a real interest in the alphabet that Kate didn't have. Kate, on the other hand, now knows most letters and numbers and she finally pushes the right button on the elevator! YAY!
Isabel had her 18 month appointment yesterday, and it went very well. She stayed at the 5th percentile for weight, and dropped to 30th for height. I guess they are both going to be short like me! The doctor wasn't concerned about the weight because it stayed at the same percentile as last time.
