Developmental Movement Class at Real Birth

Kate and I keep attending these classes at Real Birth because they are so very convenient and allow you to go as a drop in rather than committing to a huge $200 fee for eight weeks. It works well for us, because we can go when we need an activity, and if she's napping or just had her shots, we don't need to worry about "losing" our class.

The class we attended yesterday was called Developmental Movement. It has received a lot of press lately, I believe because it was featured on the local news. This made it a very crowded class, but a class well worth the effort of going to Chelsea. It started with the parents holding the baby and moving around in a circle to get the baby used to feeling different types of movement. We spun around in circles, moved the baby up and down, skipped, and lunged around the circle. Then we did baby exercises, like stretches and movements using their arms and legs. We moved about some more, then used instruments to get the babies playing to the beat. Finally, the class ended with bubbles and parachutes, which the babies all seemed to enjoy.

I never would have believed it, but later that night Kate crawled. I don't know if it was related or just a coincidence, but I do think she really enjoyed the class and I can't recommend it enough. My only advice is to go 15 minutes early, as stroller traffic jams are common.
