Baby Modeling…the Beginning!

I've been talking to the cats for years about getting a Friskies commercial (hey, other cats have jobs, why can't they?), but they have seemed uninspired. Pedro complains they don't pay in mice, and Chloe mumbles something about commercials not hiring the disabled. So after years of trying, I've given up on the idea.
Now, however, my very photogenic and sociable daughter seems to embrace the idea. (Ok, she just looks cute in pictures, but hey!) I decided to pursue the idea, and we've taken steps to start her off in the business.
She has secured an agent, Larkin Model Management, and they seem very legit, aka, they aren't asking for money upfront and only take a percentage of the jobs. That seems very reasonable to us. I sent her photos to Larkin Models, and last week I received notice that they want to represent her! Mostly they work with print ads, which I think will be easier on our schedule. To that end, we are in the process of securing a permit to model in New York City. It's really a pain, and invoves getting your very busy pediatrician to write a note saying the child is healthy and fit to model. I just got the note on Friday, and next week we'll go to the Department of Education and get our permit. That way when a job comes our way, we'll be prepared!
I also went to the local mall photography studio and had her pictures professionally taken. She was a little sick, so they weren't as smiley as usual, but we got some cool shots. My favorite is posted here. It's kind of artsy, and probably won't make her comp card, but I love it nonetheless.
This weekend Joel and I will print up some comp cards and mail the updated photos to her manager. I guess after that we just wait by the phone for a looksee, industry terms for a cattle call. How exciting! Baby needs a college fund!
