Too Much Time at the Zoo

Today Kate decided to imitate the gorillas and monkeys at the zoo by climbing into her high chair. I was cooking dinner, and she was busily playing with her toys in the living room. Suddenly, I heard mini-applause, looked up, and there she was sitting in her high chair. For a second I thought my mommy brain had forgotten to take her out after her snack, then I realized the applause meant she was proud of herself for accomplishing her goal. I took her out and sent her back to playing.
Sure enough, within a minute or two, applause. She was back in the chair. Again, I removed her, brought her into the kitchen to keep a closer eye, and went back to my Thai Fried Rice. We went through this routine at least ten times, and she was very proud of herself. I, on the other hand, was mortified. The high chair is quite high, and once I caught her standing in it backwards shaking the back of the chair. It is clear we are getting past the giant high chair stage, especially since it takes up so much room in the house!
Secretly I was proud of her too.
