She’s Got Legs…She Knows How to Use Them!

We had our two big ultrasounds yesterday, and everything looked normal! The first was a fetal echocardiogram. Boysenberry was not very cooperative. She ran out of patience with the process and started kicking and flipping, making the technician's job harder! She called Boysenberry stubborn. Hmmm, do we have another little McIntyre?
Anyway, after much trial, the technician got all of the requisite pictures, and the cardiologist reviewed them with me. She said Boysenberry's heart looks normal and functioning, and that they were not concerned that she might have inherited my bicuspid aortic valve in any worse degree than I have it. However, she did say that they can't tell if Boysenberry has the bicuspid valve until after she is born, and the pediatrician will probably listen for a murmur. Unless they find reason, Boysenberry does not need to see a pediatric cardiologist. She should be fine! Good news!
Later that day, I went to my doctor's office for the anatomy scan. This is the big one where they check the parts for size, shape and function. All was normal there, too. I saw all the fingers and toes, and even a little thumb sucking for good measure. Again, I got confirmation that we have a girl in there! I decided to post the picture of Boysenberry's legs, because they are so amazing in their detail. Besides, now I know how she's been kicking me so hard! They look long to me. I had thought Boysenberry was a quiet child, but now I know better. She is so active now, and two technicians yesterday commented on what an active fetus I had. I think I'll have my hands full. Apparently, the position of the placenta had been hiding the kicks or making them feel lighter. It is anterior, which I believe is on the front of the belly side. Now that she is stronger, I am finding she is busy kicking for hours on end. This is not quiet child. I'm not even sure she naps! Oy. I'm going to be so tired next year.
